Sofia Kholmogorova, DMD, MSc

Sofia got her dental degrees from Université de Montréal.

Concerned by the inequities in access to care for people in poverty, Sofia got a MSc. degree in dental sciences at UdeM studying qualitative research and looking into community partnerships with dental faculties. Through UdeM as well, she directed the dental clinic at REZO. Sofia is also a Faculty Lecturer at McGill University. There, she works at the Jim Lund dental clinic at the Welcome Hall Mission, a dental clinic that provides free dental care to people who are homeless or have no income.

Sofia has a passion for languages. She’s fluent in English, French, Russian, Spanish, and Italian. On her spare time, she likes to work out at the gym and play the violin and classic guitar.

Nareg Apelian, DMD

Nareg got his dental degree from Université de Montréal in 1996, and since then he has been working in the park-ex community at Centre Dentaire Jean Talon.

Concerned by the quality of oral healthcare of people living in poverty, he started a MSc. degree at McGill University studying qualitative research and developing a patient-centred approach in Dentistry. Over the years he published and continues to publish numerous articles on patient-centred dentistry.

Nareg has served for 6 years on the comité d’inspection professionelle of the Ordre des Dentistes du Québec. He chaired the committee the last 2 years of his mandate. Moreover, as assistant professor at McGill University for 5 years, he was director of the clinical activities of the 3rd and 4th year dental students. During his time at the Faculty of Dentistry, he was also the director of the Continuing Dental Education program, where he developed close ties with renowned international clinical educators in dentistry.

Nareg has given interviews and presentations at various venues locally in Montreal, and internationally in Toulouse and the USA on Patient-Centred Care and minimally-interventionist/minimally-invasive caries management. He now manages the dental clinic and strives for everyone to have a positive experience with their dental visit.

When not absorbed by dentistry, Nareg likes to play ping-pong, read and watch sci-fi, produce electronic music, and play video games with his 2 boys.

Jenny Sklivas

Jenny is our friendly assistant. Although having a background of a Certified Travel Counsellor, she has found her passion in dental assisting and has been serving patients at the clinic for over 10 years. She loves meeting and interacting with people from different backgrounds. Her sweet and kind personality makes every visit a pleasure. 
 
Jenny is fluent in English, French and Greek. In her spare time she loves reading, watching movies, sports, traveling. Jenny also loves to design and handcraft jewelry!
